  • Message Mapping 101: How to Deliver Key Messages - Impact Hub Boulder - 09/23/2014 - 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

    Description: Part one of this two part series:  What does your business do?  Imagine if your whole staff and all of your stakeholders and board members answered this question the same way. Message Mapping is a communications tool that business of all sizes can give to staff, Board Members and key community partners in order to help everyone start with the same message about the organization. During the first training, participants will learn about the anatomy of a Message Map and how it can be used at a variety of organizations.  This tool works for all businesses including start ups, retail, tech, and nonprofit organizations.  In addition, participants will learn facilitation tools to take back to their organizations to start building their own Message Map.

    Session Objectives:

    Learn the anatomy of a Message Map;
    Understand the value of providing a Message Map to your staff and stakeholders; and
    Start creating a unique Message Map for each participant.

    This two part series will teach you how to use a Message Map to create an effective and unified message for staff, board, and key stakeholders to use to communicate the message of your organization. This tool puts everyone on the same page and highlights key programs, accomplishments, and priorities.




    When: Tuesday September 23rd from 12pm-1:30pm. The session will begin promptly at noon, please arrive a few minutes early. 
    Where: Impact Hub Boulder is located at 1877 Broadways, Suite 100, on the Garden Level in the Randolph Building. The session will be in the boardroom. There is metered parking, garage parking, biking parking and the building is near numerous bus lines.

Amy graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and received her MBA from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado – Boulder.

    Teacher Bio:

    Micah Mador is the founder of Oy Vey IT, a technology consulting business with a goal to bridge the gap between people and technology by empowering clients with technology. A recent graduate of the Leeds School of business at the University of Colorado, Micah emphasized in information management and worked for 3 years at the Office of Information Technology at CU developing and teaching workshops on various tech topics. Micah has a passion for technology, entrepreneurship and people and loves sharing this with others.

    Description: In the Lean Startup model we want to quickly Build, Measure, and Learn in order to discover the best product or service as quickly as possible. While simple in theory, many struggle with how to focus their learning loop.

    This workshop will present three tools to help quickly focus and build your learning experiments, so you can start to exercise the Lean Startup approach the very next day.

    Empathy Mapping
    Problem Canvas
    Experiment Map

    • Focusing your learning on a specific customer and understanding their environment through empathy mapping
    • Using a focused persona to explore your customers problems
    • How to visually explore and brainstorm many possible solutions to customer issues and how they relate to your product or service
    • How to focus the problem your are trying to solve
    • Choosing metrics and how you will know your are learning from your experiments
    • Brainstorming and focusing experiments to leverage the most amount of learning in the least amount of time
